Luthier – stringed bowed instrument maker, and Expert to the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Brussels. The luthier, Jan Strick, has shared "Maison Bernard" with his colleague, the achetier – bow maker, Pierre Guillaume, for more than twenty years.
Maison Bernard is situated in the Arts district of the Sablon, in the heart of Brussels, very near to the Royal Conservatory of Music. Educated in France in the workshops of Michel Cune, Jean Bauer and Cognier Terrier, Jan Strick has acquired a comprehensive knowledge of European stringed instruments of the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries.
He is particularly specialised in the provision of expertise and in the study of instruments of the Flemish school.
Jan Strick offers customers a continually renewed choice of violins, violas and cellos, in all categories, from violins for learning purposes up to very valuable instruments. He also offers entirely new instruments, handmade by himself or by his top assistants.
Heading his workshop, Jan Strick is able to provide all necessary services to musicians: fabrication, repair and restoration, sales and purchasing, expertise and advice, instrument insurance. His assistant, Baptiste Argouarc'h, is second in charge of restorations, adjustments, and repairs.
